Does anyone have a T&P employee timetable that shows the station telegraph calls?

I am attempting to verify the copying office for a train order. Instead of spelling out the name, the operator merely wrote "MN."

From the text in the body of this order, it is definitely west of Dallas. My guess is that these letters indicate Mingus.

    Boxcab,

It could mean Mineola, TX, which is east of Dallas.

You might try contacting someone at the old T&P depot in Marshall, TX. They have a museum there and some old T&P folks who work as volunteers. Maybe somebody there can answer your question. I'm sure if you call directory assistance in Marshall you'll get a number.

    Best,

    Tim-

As I wrote, I'm pretty sure from the information in the body of the order, it's action west of Dallas.

Wish I'd had this question a few years ago. I knew a fellow who was a retired career T&P man. Since passed away. :(

I'll see what I can find for that group in Marshall.

    Thanks!

Now that I think about it, there are two towns west of Dallas that could be your answer. There is Mineral Wells, just west of Ft. Worth (which is west of Dallas), and farther out west there is Monahans. The T&P ran through both of these towns on its way to El Paso and beyond.

I'll check with a T&P friend of mine to see if he knows of any junctions that may be that which the document referred to.

It's a great place to train watch. On the second story there is a balcony, and UP's tracks go right within about 100 feet, making it an excellent railfanning spot. It's a really nicely restored depot.

[IMG] Now you're giving me ideas! Our local depot, is now on a stubbed branch line. But there is almost daily local service. No balcony. But I wonder if the Chamber of Commerce would let me photo from an upstairs window???
