12 - 16 inches base to base. Btw feel free to move this to NScale forum if needed. I need to figure out the other level and how to get trains down and facing the 'right direction'. May need to dohble track the helix...outer up, inner down.
Oops. Somehow I did not notice the scale. I was too busy following the design and ideas. It can go in N scale. Or might be a good fit for our Layout Design Discussion forum.

While the forums was undergoing the redesign and re-launch I was also working on a redesign. My track plan utilizes the entire dining room area and the helix is gone, replaced with a perimeter track that circles the room and rises to 12 inches at a 2.5% grade. The layout is color coded to allow for easier understanding. If anyone would like the view or play with the layout I have attached the SCARM file (change .txt to .scarm).
