I've been buying some used locos and would like to test them on a test track with DC before trying to program the decoder if they have one or before buying a decoder for them. I'd also like to have a fixed DC power supply for some other projects. Would the Tech II Rail Master 2400 be a good option for this as it seems to have track outputs and fixed DC outputs along with AC outputs? I can find used ones on ebay for reasonable prices. Any other good options? Thanks, Sumner
The 2400 would be a good choice, since it has a switch to turn off the pulse power feature. Some dual-mode decoders may inadvertently interpret pulsed DC power as a DCC signal, which can result in erratic operation.
I didn't even notice or think about the pulse power feature. Thanks for pointing that out. I ordered one yesterday off ebay, Sumner
