Just so you know, 40 seconds to refresh and random photos to load, then 1 minute 5 seconds to get this page open. If enabling suPHP is done, maybe halved the wait time.
This is a real fun issue. Enabling suPHP allows me to see what user is using which processes. I got this working right about 4 hours ago now and I am getting better info. Keep in mind that I am doing this in my off time and during breaks and lunch. The server load is not spiking and the cpu usage is always low. I am trying to figure out how these processes are causing the site to slow down....
If you guys think this is bad, I have had AOL as an ISP for almost 20 years and I never thought it was as bad as many claimed. However, lately it is complete garbage.
I , most likely, should not write this. However, and this is not directed towards any "Staff Member" or computer expert working on the problem. I, along with many members, greatly appreciate the work done by all of you, basically on your private time. However, I would say one of you should make postings to keep members advised of what is being done and when will the problem be fixed. I want to say the issue is not resolved. Sometimes when I try to sign on, it never happens and I get a reply that "this web page is not available". Last night around 9:00pm MDT, I got on and was reading a thread and tried to go to another and it cut out and was not available again. Again, I am not flaming anybody, for sure, just attempting, in good faith, to keep you advised that the issue is not solved. Carl
I am glad you posted. I have just about stopped any update reports....but my experience is similar to yours. Sometimes it works good, sometimes it does not. When it does not, sometimes it eventually will (leave the room and go do something else...come back and it's connected) or never will (come back "Problem Loading Page"). Last night, as you, I think 2300-ish Eastern Time, after hours of behaving itself, poof....
Well, we are aware of the problem and attempts are being made to isolate the issue and then remedy it. We are working on it as much as possible. As with any intermittent problem, there is some trial and error. I apologize for the problem, but rest assured, we will solve it so please hang with us as we get through it. Charlie
Trainboard.com is on a dedicated server that is shared by other sites. I have narrowed it down a lot. I am sure that there is a program that is making too many mysql connections at one time. I'm sure that trainboard.com is not the issue.
We really appreciate your efforts, and that's directed to all y'all who are busting your collective butts, on your own time, for no payment, just because you believe in the TrainBoard. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Based upon the irregularity of the outtages, and the fact that some don't ever have it, made me think something in between thee and me.
Bremner, you are "right on' there. It just happened to me again @ 8:45pm MDT. That's about the same time every night lately. Carl
Ok, more info. I stopped crond, cron jobs are scheduled tasks that run at a certain time. That didn't change a thing. I then stopped mysql in the middle of the high process time and they dropped like a stone.
I have purposefully logged in between xx:50 and xx:00 over the span of the past 6 hours (missed a couple) and everything seems to be acting smoothly.
bremner, I have checked it during the suspect time period for the past two days and had no problems. Seems to be resolved. Thanks for your work on the issue. Carl
