Ok I have just learned how to take a picture without flash and keep it from getting too blurry. And I learned how to crop. Check out this picture I took of my layout!

And of course I have to show the mogul. Obviously my favorite loco in my stable.

I'll post more as I get better.

The loco comes out looking very sharp. Both in appearance, and photo quality.

    Joe:

    Those pictures are great.

To take better pictures get a tripod for your camera. Turn off the flash completely, use overhead light source, take longer exposures and use the highest f stop (lens opening the camera has whuch is the smallest aperture.

    Have fun ... [IMG]

Joe, very nice photos. Are you using digitial or film? I moved to digital a few years ago and LOVE it! Mind you, I went with a profession camera since we would be doing alot of macros, but I have seen very good results with consumer digitals.

Bob is right. Most of the photos I have shot for the covers of Ztrack are with no flash. I increase the exposure times and play with different lengths of exposure. I have had great results! A tripod is a MUST when shooting Z.

I can't wait to see more photos! More, more, more please!

Thanks for the kind words as always guys. I appreciate your support! Robert I will be posting more as I keep learning. Right now I am having fun. [IMG] Bob, I used a tripod and no flash, now I will have to try messing with the aperture. Rob, it is a digital camera, and I am finally getting around to learning how to really use it. My wife usally does all the work, but now I got some time so hopefully I can produce better pictures.

    Rob:

I find using a tripod indespensible in N scale. Using a high f stop(smaller lens)opening and longer exposure times will give you a great photo.

HenrikH, I am using woodlan scenes fine cinders. I know woodlan has a bad rap with the ballast people, but I soak it good with 91% alcohol before applying glue. So I never get any floaters. However I do paint the rails and ties first with a combination of different blacks, mostly grimey black. The one thing I learned from other posters is to make the rails have a hint of the same color as the ballast as if powdered residue is left on them. It really downsized the rail and made it look more realistic.
