Best statement I have read in a while. Something tells me George might be better at one of those things than he wants us to know....... Still wondering what this mystery solution to a taller tower might be?
Been rainy and snowing...with some miserable temps. I will go out there Monday and see if my plans work.
Always did like that one, thanks for bringing it back. Along similar lines, years ago in the San Francisco Bay Area a commuter train system was put in called BART which stood for Bay Area Rapid Transit. Unfortunately any city that begins with F would really have to consider if they want a similarly named system in their city.
There was an O gauge club in Farmingville, NY that had RDCs lettered as Farmingville Area Rapid Transit. The fella that made them was a very nice guy who loved flatulence.
Cut one row off the bottom of the solar panels and turned them 180 so the panels would slide up from the bottom on the mounting tab. Had to trim the top off the mount. They are over by 'Chris Cable'. I like the way they turned out.
REFORESTATION As you all know when I started my layout back in 2012 it needed trees...and a lot of them. At the time the expense was prohibitive as I was buying layout materials. So I made 'standby trees' out of an old fake Xmas tree I had stored in the rafters in the shed. They have been on the layout for over 11 years ! I finally got the OK from THE WIFE to buy some more realistic trees! They finally came in today. 4 bags of 52 pine trees in each bag. Various sizes in each bag. I also got one bag of what they call 'pine trees' but lucky for me they look a lot like the cedar trees we have around here. $36.00 for all of em ! She bought them off TEMU ! So this afternoon I went out for a few hours and plucked hundreds of the old standby trees off one side of the layout. The new trees (208) needed a lot of new holes drilled. REFORESTATION continued until I ran out of energy and my back said it had enough for the day. I still have the left side of the layout to do...as soon as my back gets a day or 2 of rest.
Temu and AliExpress are great low cost supplier options for things like trees. Same items, but higher, sometimes much higher, prices on eBay and Amazon.
Thanks Mark. She has been a Temu junkie for years. she gets all kinds of deals on some weird stuff for her. She plays Temu's online games and gets lots of free stuff. She gets coupons and discounts on all her purchases there. She just happened to be browsing their items and found the trees. She asked me if I still wanted to change the trees out. I honestly hadn't thought about it for years....lol. Thanks Richard. I was/am impressed on the quality of these trees. The pictures really don't do them justice. I just didn't realize the actual amount of work involved in 'planting' them. I have 3 battery operated drills all chucked with different sized bits !!! It didn't take long to get tired of changing bits every other tree !!! The 4 taller... narrower...lighter colored trees at the back of the 'Homestead' really remind me of 'poplar trees' so that is cool. There was 2 in each bag so the 6 worked out well. There are some 'bottle brush' trees that i planted in the same area. Those are the only ones that look a little weird to me...but THE WIFE likes em....soooooooooooooo...
Agree don't look like pine, though they are really nice and would put them on my layout too! The pines I have. They look pretty close to pine trees?? Painted them a little darker green after shortening to about 1/2"
