How tough is it to swap loco wheels to low profile? The one for sure I'd want is my RS-1 purchased in 1989 #4410 Is it even worth it for my 2 LL GP18 & 2 LL FA2 & FB2? hard to give up so many locos, but I love the look of atlas code 55 - the tie spacing/color. So far, my ConCor GN J3a hudson is the only loco that runs on it without grinding.
Northwest ShortLines has replacement wheels for most locos, or you can actually turn them down yourself. Northwest Short Line
Check the Trainworx site - http://www.wic.net/trainworx/ They have a flange lowering service to accomodate wheelsets for Code 40, so they will definitely work for Code 55. Give them a hoy!
