Well guys I took the plunge today and bought another 4 car set of Superliners and an F59PHI shell. I have the mechanism for the shell (GP40-2) and I'm hoping Scott at the Freight Yard gets these decals done fast. I will have pics of the first stages tomorrow. ......... For those of you who are interested, I have a few photos of my progress on my F59PHI shell. I can E mail these to who ever requests them (they are in .jpg format). Also, I will have pictures of the early stages of my cab car on Monday hopefully. CraigM111@aol.com
I'm going to attempt to post a picture...... [ 16 June 2002, 06:15: Message edited by: Craig Martyn ]
This shot shows the front with the plow I scratch built. Side shot. Closing note for now. This shell is AWESOME! For those of you who love fast modern US passenger trains, you need one of these to push or pull a set of cars. I'll have pictures of the cab car shortly.
Thats very nice and one of the better shells I have seen. That locomotive would look great with the newly announced "Talgo" train set by ER Models. http://www.4nscale.com/products.asp?m=7&t=103
My Mistake, the ER Models Talgo is a bullet train and not like the ones seen on the Pacific North West. with locomotives at both ends.
Thanks Bob! To bad about the Talgo train sets..... Here is a photo of the cab car which has just been started.
"My Mistake, the ER Models Talgo is a bullet train and not like the ones seen on the Pacific North West. with locomotives at both ends." I am not sure what you are referring too as far as a "bullet" train goes... what it is suppose to represent (according to their web site and the ad I saw in Model Railroader) is the initial cars that were tried in that service (without the wings on the head and tail car), though this still could be detail added.

I didn't know the cars where tested in the USA without the bullet power loco, the only cars I have seen and the "Winged" version.
I have finals this week as school ends on the 19th so I got out a little early and was able to work on my cab car. Since the last photo I have added a pilot with scratch built plow, dictch lights, coupler and a few other things that aren't as noticable. It's to bad though, the more I look at pictures of the real cars, the more I realize the Kato cars are WAY different from what I am modeling......oh well......
"the more I look at pictures of the real cars, the more I realize the Kato cars are WAY different from what I am modeling." Well don't feel hit... I was under the same assumption for quite some time myself until I got to looking at the article in Model Railroader about the cars and saw how they are detailed (thanks, though, to someone mentioning this on the N-scale Varnish List first). But there still are possibilities as far as what to do with the cars, ranging from your choice to accept them for the way they are to reworking them to be more accurate... they are your cars after all...
OK, heres the last picture for a while. This shows the progress I have made on the cab car front. All 4 cars (5th one is coming soon) have been painted silver and blue, so now I have to wait for the decals to be made by the Freight Yard, which quoted me 6-8 weeks.
