Hey guys I wanted start the photo fun for my first time ever and I was able to get a bit done yesterday with my layout. I added the black panel to the lower part of the layout to hide underneathe a bit. I added clouds to the backdrop (was easy, spray can and Clouds stencil) [IMG]

Here are a couple of heavily kit-bashed heavy weight Athern cars. I used New England Rail AC ducts, scratch built and commercial detail parts and moved a lot of windows around. The Shadow-line decals are from Bronze Key Models.

    Great modelling there guys.

Have you stretched the Pullman? Looks longer than the Athearn original?

Well it's Monday morning here, but it's not 12 yet, so it must still be Sunday night somewhere... [IMG]

Here's a couple of recent shots of Rock Springs, we had two boards set up outside to work on a set of crossing barriers for the Chatham show and as we had sunshine decided to shoot a few pics while we were at it.

The low angle of shot kept the workshop and all the very green Devon scenery out of shot! (And makes them a bit dramatic!)

Chatham show was running modern outline, so was exhibition debut for this Metrolink set.

We also had some vintage-era stock around, so shot some of that too... here a Bachmann 2-10-0 works the local

By the late 50's, the decapod has gone for scrap and it's place has been taken by a GP7

Yes, I had to add a bit somewhere. I removed the sides from the roof and chopped them up to reassemble them with the correct window spacing. It took two cars (they are cheap). I spliced enough of two roofs together to get the correct lenght and put the new built up sides back. The floor is then stretched also.
Now with the new Branchline Kits comming out, I will probably never do this again. :D

    Great photos you guys posted.

I was going to mention them, then thought i'd better not as you'd already done such a nice job! :D  ;)

Did that obs survive as a business car? I seem to recall seeing pics of something similar somewhere? I'm still wondering what to do with my Kato biz car. It does have a similar overall look to the ATSF's 'Topeka', but I think that has 3 axle trucks?

The heavyweight obs was one of a series built for the ATSF as a business car. It was modernized in the 50s when AC was added and it was given the shadow line paint scheme to mimic the look of a fluted side stainless steel car. I did modify a Kato car to better resemble the Budd built ATSF business cars. I believe there were two. I cut away the skirts around the trucks and added some 3 axle trucks I took off of an old Bachmann full dome lounge. I also removed the tail light above the platform and mounted a double light fixture right below the platform railing like the one on the heavyweight car shown above.
