The DCC++ thread in the DCC & Electronics subforum is over 750 posts and going strong. It now has a number of subtopics being mixed together such as the JMRI interface, booster design, how to configure different hardware combinations, cab bus and hand-held throttle design, etc. The participants in this thread would greatly appreciate a subforum under DCC & Electronics for DCC++ so that we can add some order to this thread, if that could be arranged. Thanks for considering our request.
I agree. I'm one of the newbies to DCC and need all the help I can get with many things. The DCC++ forum has been a great help, but the activity there is mainly concerned with hardware and coding to improve DCC++. I'm reluctant to ask questions and also fine it difficult to page through 42 pages to find an answer to a simple question that may or may not have been answered. David
All DCC++ers, Recommend that you start multiple treads in “DCC & Electronics” and start each title with something like: DCC++ There were groups on this forum that wend away (losing all the information they contained) with little to no warning. Bob
This was explained more than once, previously. The information is NOT LOST. When we transitioned to the current board software, which we had no choice as the old had declined in both quality and safety, we had expected to also move Groups. Unfortunately those Groups, which were an aftermarket plug-in, we discovered would not import to the new software. As yet no way to do this has come along. Meanwhile, the old Groups and messages are archived. We can do nothing but wait and see.
I was not trying to tweak the forum. I used the word “losing” form the user’s point of view. Sorry for the confusion. Bob
If we did use Bob's suggestion of a "DCC++" prefix for thread subjects for now, could the messages be moved to their own subforum (or Group or whatever mechanism works) later on if you chose to create one? If you (the Staff) would prefer that we use that approach to start with and see how it goes, I'm fine with that. Thanks, Mike
I'll add my vote for a DCC++ sub-subforum, should the management deem it appropriate for the forum structure they are expecting to have.
