    Wow! What a question!

I was thinking about how to do that for Espee, and it would take some time for me to do it just in Texas. Maybe some type of employee handbook or timetable? Sounds like a historical society question.

    Andy-

I'm not sure such a site exists. It might be quite a complicated task to assemble. The reason being time. Not to do the job of assembling such info. But what passed during the life of this company.

Over the years, divisions, and subdivisions, were re-aligned many times. Abandonments, consolidations, etc. So subdivisions were re-named and renumbered. Some never. Others, several times.

If you have a specific time frame, and division or subdivision, I do have some Milw ETT to reference. Just might be lucky enough to have the right one!

Get ahold of the Mil-west guy's. They have alot of interest in lines west. And the Milwaukee Road Historical Society is all about the whole system.

    Kurt-

I'm a member of both groups.... MRHA 25+ years.

Andy lives back east. So don't know if he wants info specific to just that area. And, as I noted, that info changed over time, so a rough date will be helpful.

I have at least 150 Milw ETT available for researching.

    Thanks Guy's,
Boxcab is right, I am looking for the sub-division between Portage and Tunnel City Wis. in the 1950's. I tried the MRHA about a month ago but no response. I get that alot when I e-mail them, Can't blame them though, it's only a part time job.

    Here we go! [IMG]

On April 1, 1939, the Milw introduced their final format for employee timetables. (With one issue of notable exception.) The same size we know so well, right through the end.

With the change from 11" by 17" , which was nicknamed "horse blanket," from that date forward, is where I can outline coverage. And is also where they went from named, to numbered subdivisions.

The line you want, was first part of the LaCrosse & River Divn 1st District. This was realigned as the LaCrosse Division. In the early 1970's, (June, 1972), was published as part of the Lacrosse Division, Twin City Terminal Division and Aberdeen Divn Joint Timetable.

Continuing their renaming, Portage-Tunnel City was then in the Wisconsin Divn, Minnesota Divn and Dakota Divn Joint TT. Which was finally known as the Wisconsin Divn and Minnesota-Dakota Divn Joint TT.

All the way from April 1, 1939, through November 7, 1981, Portage-Tunnel City was always part of the Second Subdivision. A line segment that never was renumbered.

Until on November 8, 1981, the first ETT after Lines West was (stupidly) abandoned, Northern Division and Southern Division #1. When it became the Third Subdivision.

Long winded. but there is the story. Pre- 4/1/39, I just don't have much to go on. Mostly stuff from Lines West.

    Thanks Ken,
Thats exactly what I wanted! I thought you would be able to help. Now I won't sound like such a dummy when I start talking to people about the area I am modeling. The guy's I know that work for the CP didn't have and idea what Milw. called it. Most of it to them is called the Tomah Sub.

Glad it was of some value. The named sub these days, must either be Soo, or CP influence.

The term sub is used to break up each division into smaller parts for work crews and maybe the despatcher.

    Yes. I know.

What I was referencing, being the use of the named subdivision at present- "Tomah Sub." Don't believe that was done, until post-Milw. Too lazy tonight, to dig out my Milw and Soo ETT, and look at them again.
