Actually, two guys I know do. The sewer system was originally built by the builder-owner of an adjacent development. The builders-owners of my development contracted with him to extend it to theirs. It's now owned by a retired Special Operations Colonel who sells real estate and a CPA.

    Peter:

Are you connecting to the City system there? Sure looks like you're getting close to the street.

Also didn't you say something about building some subway tracks? Seems like now's a good time to start.

depends on how deep the hole is to the outlet.

If the outlet is immediately right behind the backdrop, you could get away with just painting the outlet the same color as your backdrop. That would hide it a little bit.

If it is deep behind the backdrop perhaps a removable cover ?

The heat pump is for the railroad room. It looks like an ordinary air conditioner. Now I had to get a 115v unit--more expensive at $900 US--but then it would have cost a fortune to run a 230v line the length of the house, which is 125 feet. This unit is made by Friedlich, and is fabulous! Very efficient--I've noticed virtually no change in my electric bill--maybe a few bucks a month. But the railroad room is fully insulated and finished, as is the rest of the garage.

I designed the house with passive solar in mind--gain heat in the winter, shed heat in the summer. Nothing fancy like Trombe walls or heat storage, just some design principles. Hence the angles. I can discuss this all day--but not on this forum.

The reason I say clock (or something removable) is in the rare case you need access to it again. I say rare, citing this case as an example - I mean who thought~~??.

I think I'll just place the cut-out square back in the hole. Perhaps use the old wallboard trick of tape on the inside of the hole, sticky side out.

George--no city water or sewer out here in the county! And the subway--ROTFLMAO!

A bit of trivia: A sewer line broke in the basement where a small N Scale club had their layout, ruining it. The club was forced to hunt for new space. Two decades later, the SDSoNS in San Diego has one of the largest N Scale layouts in the country as part of the San Diego Model Railroad Museum.

An extra-dry Beefeater martini, up with a twist, is my all-time favorite drink. But it's for special occasions only. Hendricks gin is soooo good you can make a martini without the vermouth.

Sierra Nevada, I think, is a bit like Sam Adams--not exactly Budweiser, but not a micro-brewery either. Very crisp and tasty! I find Fat Tire a bit cloying--this isn't. Bass Pale Ale is a bit smoother, but also heavier and nuttier. SN is brewed in Chico, CA. It's now probably a branch of a bigger brewery--I don't follow those things.

Well, the mess gets worse and worse outside as the county inspectors impose more and more requirements (like expanding the field even more). But the railroad is safe for now.
