I've just started adding asphalt and sidewalks to my town. I used drywall compound (Durabond 90) to build up the street to create a crossing and painted the asphalt using "Sandstone" ceramic paint. It has a fine grit in it and can be tinted using water based paint. I then fastened wood forms 1/8 in. thick, and applied some more durabond to make sidewalks. The latest update to my web site - http://www3.islandtelecom.com/~s.jay/rr - has photos of the results to date. This may be a little late, but I'm wondering what other folks have used for asphalt and sidewalks. ------------------ Scott Jay member of: Half Nuts Model Railroaders [This message has been edited by sajay (edited 05 October 2000).]
Streets and Sidewalks? Save all that concrete in case you need to make a 10 mile long bridge. Charlie ------------------ Ship It On The FRISCO! | IAMOKA.com
Scott, For my roadways I used (wet and dry) not usre whtat you guys cal it. They use it to rub back cars. I formed the shape of the road using masonite then glued the wet and dry over it. I then dusted some chalk to give the road a more realistic appearance.
