looks like an ex-KCS SD40 that is now owned by a leasing company, looks like SCFX under the # in the first pic.

It's definitely a leaser, but I can't make out the reporting marks on the cab side. Did you write it down, or get another pic of the reporting marks?

Someone posted this on another forum.
That would be GCFX 3076, and SD40-2 (former SD-40) remanufactured at Alstom Leasing.

    Hey Tiny,
Nice picture! I see quite a few of those GCFX units on CSX,,,, kinda drab in that "Stealth" paint; not nearly as exciting as the CEFX "Bluebirds"
What about the trailing unit? What # is that? I caught a similar ex-SP unit in S.C. a couple of weeks ago.

I see quite a lot of UP power in Charleston, S.C. that seems to come in on the intermodal trains,,,, I think either via CSX or NS... maybe someone can clarify

I work along the Houston Ship Channel. On my way to work this morning there was a CN locomotive on a UP train passing through Deer Park towards the old SP yard in LaPorte. Is UP short on power these days?

If they are, it may be because so much of their own power is off visiting on other railroad's property. It seems any more that power gets interchanged all most as much as rolling stock. A friend of mine works for UP from the Joint Dispatch Center in Spring with BNSF. For a while they were pulling any new power off of trains going east to New Orleans because they did not want CSX to grab it and then have it disappear for months on that system. They would drag out anything old that would run and put as much as it took for a consist to get it out of Houston.
