I recently bought a second Bachmann DCC GP7 that is identical to another I have that runs fine. This one looks as if it was never used.

Using DCC++EX it programs on the program track to the 4 digit road number. Moves when it is reading and writing CV's. Put it on the main and it doesn't move on either single or 2 digit addresses which are written and read with DecoderPro.

I changed it to DCC only, still the same no movement.

I changed it back to where it can run on DC and tried it on my DC test track. It runs only in reverse under DC and not forward.

I put it away and will later pull the shell so hopefully with a meter I can find out what is going on but in the meanwhile wondered if anyone has run into this?

    Thanks,

    Sumner

P.S. Another loco programs and runs fine.

I don’t know if this helps or not, but I had this exact same problem with my DR5000 and a WIN10 computer running JMRI. Once I switched to my Digitrax command station the problem went away and the program worked perfectly. My version of JMRI was a bit older on this machine, my Pi has the newest version but that was completely not happy with my DR5000.

On JMRI, you also need to select '4 digit address'. You can write values into the 4 digit CV system, but unless you switch from 2 to 4 digit, it will still use the old address. I'm not sure how DCC++ handles this though. Is this a stock Bachmann board?

If the model is not working on a DC layout, it may be a hardware issue. The motor is receiving power in one direction only, which could be an issue with the board hardware. Have you tried a factory reset with CV 8?

As far as I know but I haven't pulled the shell off yet.

That is what I'm thinking at this point. I'll be able to get back to it in a couple days and will report back. If anyone else has experience with the same problem I'd like to hear about it, thanks,
