Cierra55, Welcome to the TrainBoard. Hope you enjoy it.

Unfortunately I can't help you with any pix of bottle cars, although I remember seeing many over the past 50 years :( However, I'm sure someone in the Group knows where to find some, or could even post one of their own [IMG]

Thanks for joining and good luck, Hank

Took some pics in Chicago back in 2000. I had scanned them in & they were on Photopoint, but that's not a lot of help now.

I'll see if I can get them re-scanned in the next couple of days for you.

    All the best [IMG]

I know I have viewed a website with loads of photos of hot metal cars, but I cannot find it  Thought I had it in my bookmarks.

Cierra55, apparently you have one tough job ahead of you. I did a Google search for "molten+steel+bottle+car+photo". This was after I tried many other combinations that totally went bust. The only photo I came up with was of a model ... I'll have to admit that it's a darn good one, but a it's still a model none the less :(

I found it at the following site http://www.peachcreekshops.com/projimg.htm

By the way, where is Malden? I grew up in Bedford Hills, about 15 miles east of Peekskill and never heard of Malden ... although I have to admit that that's my loss [IMG]

There was an excellent article in the Railroad Model Craftsman magazine July 1989 issue. It has some superb photographs of model bottle cars weatherd and with slag build-up around the rim, etc., plus prototype pics.

If you cannot find it, and would like to see it, I may be able to get some copies made and sent to you [IMG]
