I was reborn to N scale in January. I am sure this topic has been discussed to death.... But- I was in absolute awe in taking a trip to Steamtown. Are there any other displays (working or non working) in the Northeast? My wife and I were able to take the trip on a Pacific to Tobyhanna. We were in the first passenger car and got sooted, but not cindered. My wife went to accommodate me and she wound up enjoying the trip almost as much as I did. We stayed at the Radisson, which is the converted Lackawanna station. It was a spectacular restoration.
Mark, I would suggest that you visit both Altoona and Strausburg. I have taken my son to both and we had a blast. My father was taking me to Strausburg when I was my son's age, so it is real nostalgic for me. Bob
Mark In addition to Bob’s suggestion the Philadelphia area has some great tourist lines. There is the New Hope & Ivyland in New Hope, PA. They have a great ride from New Hope. Plus the town of New Hope has great shops and restaurants. New Hope & Ivyland RR Also there is the Wilmington & Western in Wilmington, DE. Wilmington & Western RR Strasburg is great because across the street from the railroad is the Pennsylvania Railroad Museum. Also there is the National Toy Train Museum, the Choo Choo Barn. You can even stay in a caboose at the Red Caboose Motel. Strasburg RR Railroad Muesum of Pennsylvania National Toy Train Museum Choo Choo Barn Red Caboose Motel
