:teeth:Just returned from a great trip. Those who say that steam is dead are badly misinformed. You just need to know where it is and go find it. These images are just a tease for what my Nikon D-50 recorded at the Sumpter Valley Narrow Gauge, with their neat 2-8-2 #19 disguised as White Pass & Yukon #81, along with all of the freight cars. Two days later at the Cowlitz, Chehalis and Cascade, with #15 pulling pre WWII vintage freight. OK, look carefully at the flat, it's out of place. More to come when I recover.
OK, That second one is for non railfans, just to show how photogenic the Sumpter Valley is. Now, here are a couple from Harold Borovec's operation, the Cowlitz, Chehalis and Cascade, in Chehalis, WA. Lots more to come for both of these. :teeth:
Sweeeeet! The old school boxcars are really what makes the scene. It makes it hard to plug a date on the photo!
Nice photos Fitz! The CC&C loco looks almost exactly like our #19. At Sumpter Valley, are those ponds a result of dredge tailings? Looks like it has been all dredged out sometime in history.
For anyone who cares............. Bill, yes, there is a lot of similarity with your 19 and the CCC 15. Baldwin 1916 for the 15, 1915 for the 19. I'll post one more pic, but heck, no one seems to be interested. I printed this as an 8X10 and it's beautiful. Did I mention that I LOVE the Nikon D-50?:teeth:
What's the story behind the red box car? Is that really a WP&Y paint scheme? I've never seen one before! Boxcab E50
Ken, the folks over there did a lot of work to duplicate White Pass schemes. I don't know about the color of the boxcar, which wasn't that red. Taylor Rush, one of the young guys who really works his butt off over there, did the painting. For Sunday, which I didn't attend, they repainted the tender lettering with the "flying W" White Pass lettering. And Bill, Yes, the ponds are left over from dredging the entire valley. There is a huge dredge there as a tourist attraction. I have pix of it if you are interested. Here is another.
Here's another from the Cowlitz, Chehalis and Cascade. :teeth: Well, I see none of them showed up from the new Railimages. I guess there is a 100K limit. I'll have to go edit them. It's hard to get any interest in photos when they aren't there, eh?
I really dislike answering my own posts, but due to the failure of the pix to show up, here is yet another just to put this back on top. Shameless push. :embarassed:
