TrainBoard.com Administrator The Rocket took these pictures at Muscatine, Iowa on 27 June 2000.

    Here are his comments:

Chicago, Milwaukee and St.Paul 4-8-4 Northern #261 was scheduled to stop in Muscatine on an excursion from Kansas City to Minneapolis. It was to be in at 8 PM. Running way behind it finally pulled in at 1:03 AM. I watch as they unloaded passengers and baggage, refilled the water tank, and loaded on coal! This is still an actual coal burner! It was pulling out this morning... and of course I had to be at work. But I was at least able to snap off a few pictures with her under a head ofsteam before I had to rush to work.

Those are really great photos. You should post them on the Favorite Steam Locomotive forum here. I voted for 3751, but the 261 would certainly place second as restorations go, maybe FIRST for producing revenue, which was their intention. Unlike most, that engine gets out and RUNS. Congratulations to Steve Sandberg and Co.
