Hello. I currently have an N scale layout that I began about a year ago. It's fun, but also frustrating at times. It seems like everything needs work; the track, some cars, the locos. We just set up our Christmas tree and put the Goofy & Mickey Mouse train around it. I'm having a blast! It's O scale. I would like to maybe add a couple cars and a better loco to this set. But I don't know anything about O scale. My N stuff is DCC and I like that aspect. Is there a similar system in O? Or is it the same? Are there locos already with decoders readily available? I would also like to add some animation, like a car that dumps logs remotely or something like that. Any ideas for me? Thanks.

Well the common control system from Lionel is TMCC and MTH has DCS. You can use DCC if you like but it won't be installed already like TMCC and DCS. They are propriatory systems, but DCS will run TMCC. There are several action cars offered from both Lionel and MTH.

Look around what they have to offer. :D

this is what i've always wanted to do
put N scale and O scale side by side or at least on the same layout
i wanted to do that with my HO and O but i did not get to it

I talked to the guy at the train store today and he gave me a catalog of Lionel. We talked a long time. I told him that I think I want to keep my N going as something to develop. I have room for a nice layout in N. But the O, well, I pretty sure I'm going to get a better power pack, a nice loco with sound, and a couple of animation cars. This I will play with around Christmas (and other times if I want). I think it's a winning combination. Thanks for your thoughts. I have checked out the Internet sites and have more checking to do. This is a great hobby.

It certainly is! So many facets to explore, and enjoy.
