Anyone have a history book handy? I know when they were absorbed by MP, but was wondering when did the Mopac acquire control of these two railroads: St.Louis, Iron Mountain & Southern RY; St.Louis, Brownsville & Mexico RY?

As well as I can figure out from the MoPac Historical Society website , the Iron Mountain line was bought in March 1917, and the SLBM, part of the Gulf Coast Lines, was absorbed into the MP system in March 1956. The Gulf Coast Lines were owned by Frisco, but in the throes of bankruptcy these lines were sold off to a MP subsidiary, sometime in the mid-1920s.

Mopac absorbed a whole bunch of controlled companies, and subsidiaries on March 1, 1956. What's hard to find, are the dates for when they gained control to start with.

When looking for these dates, on small companies, it's something I expect can be a problem. But I'm always surprised when the big company doesn't seem to have a clear record.
