I left an LL-2-8-8-2 on the test loop last night. We'd had a wonderful get-together with friends to watch the Patriots hammer the Jags, and I forgot about it. No sweat, it ran all night long, and I've done this many times before. The problem is that it has developed a very annoying squeakiness. I think it's in the valve gear rather than from the motor. It still runs just fine, but very squeaky. It's coming apart later today for a decoder install, so it will get lightly lubed inside, just in case the motor bearings are dry. And, of course, the valve gear will get lubed. Anyone else have this problem develop? Any ideas?
Have one that will not pull much but no squekes. It has about 30 to 35 hours on it. I too am going to put a decoder in it.
