This is the first time i've actually seen one pulling its own weight... Phase 1 unit running 3rd and last in the consist and belching blue smoke like you wouldn't believe. Anybody else seen em in action? Is that much smoke normal?

Blue smoke usually means oil is being burned, so that would probably be bad [IMG](not normal). As a side note, do you know if it was a true SD90MAC (8500 series) or an SD9043MAC (8000 to 8200 series). I have seen several SD9043's but also saw my first Phase II 90 earlier this month (#8540), unfortunately it was not moving. I still am curious to hear one of the new H-engines running at full throttle. From some descriptions they sound similar to GE units.

    #8517 to be exact...

I've seen many of the 9043s but this is the first H i've seen actually doing something.

I was listening to the radio with the windows up and didn't get to hear the 4 stroker- i'd forgotten all about that. I'll have to keep that in mind next time i spot one.

If you saw the smoke you would have been scratching your head. I know i was!
