Are there AC9 tenders? They sure look like it to me. http://espee.railfan.net/nonindex/spmw/tankcars/4765ab_spmw-water-car-david_lange.jpg This picture is from Richard Percy's Espee Modeler's Website on the MOW index >tankcars: http://espee.railfan.net/spmw_index.html Thing is...this looks like a coal tender. SP had converted to oil around 1910. AC9s did burn New Mexico coal, but in later years, they were moved to Oregon and converted to oil. Perhaps this is a relic left behind in the oil conversion and the coal tenders were not converted? These are two big water cars; they must really be heavy.
Excellent find Flash, the second car seems to be a coal carrying tender but the first one does seem to be an oil tender. Now all we need is someone to make one in N scale
Tender Confusion Thanks, Jason. I did not notice the difference in the tenders. The second tender on the right looks like an AC9 to me. Different trucks on them, too. Both are big, though. Thanks, again. :rose:
