I am tech dumb. I was trying to post 2 weeks ago but did not under stand that I needed a photo dump place first before I can upload to the forum. So now that me son inlaw and daughter are home I think I under stand? So if you all would like to see my layout before this add on look up spiffytrains on youtube it will give a little history. most of the photos are demo and bench work. I will try and get over view of the train set and basement walls and a ruff track plain. Thanks for your time and any help or ideas you may have.[IMG] [IMG][IMG][IMG] this is the hall way from train room to storage room on the left.[IMG][IMG]bench work in the living room 8' x8'[IMG][IMG]the portal is from the storage room right side of photo.[IMG]storage room hole left from hall way[IMG][IMG]the bridge train room right to storage on the left[IMG]track and road bed going in to storage room.[IMG]looking back to train room.[IMG] from storage to train room.[IMG][IMG]

No, you do not need a "photo dump place". Simply Click "Upload a File" button right next to "Post Reply". Navigate to the photo on your computer or mobile device, then upload. It's that easy.

Actually using 3rd-party photos hosting sights can make it very difficult for some of us behind firewalls to see your photos. Best to upload them directly using the forums "Upload a File" button.

Is the train bridge from the storage room to the train room removable or permanent? If it is permanent, do you have a plan for its removal in case you have to get into the closet?

Glennac, thanks for this knowledge. This dinosaur has been using Railimages since TB began. This definitely will be easier.

The bridge is removable. 2 wing nuts then up and out. I have a small rc car power plug that is giving the track power.

    Just a suggestion:

Where that RC plug comes out of the wall. You really need that to come out as a double plug...or run a second wire and plug on each end. One set of wires need to go back inside...to the last 12-18 of both tracks before the bridge. You need to do this on both ends. The reason being...If you unplug the bridge to remove it...and the tracks leading to it on either end are still powered...and you forget to shut the trains down...you are going to have a massive mess of trains on the floor !! Unplugging track power before the bridge...when you remove it....will stop trains when they hit the dead tracks...before the abyss !!! .

I've been here 8 years...I have read of numerous such disasters. Its not a question of 'IF'...it's more a question of 'WHEN' such an accident will happen.

    .Just my .02 worth. ;)

PA310054.JPG Need some help on containing the shiny soldered track connections. I would rather not paint the hole of the track but just blend in the solder so it dose not stand out as much. Thanks for all the help or ideas.

Suggest a tiny (2/0, or 0) paint brush from Hobby Lobby, Michael's, or possibly Wal-Mart. Then dab any color that's close to the rail color. A perfect match isn't necessary, because the casual visitor won't see the difference once the shine is gone...if you don't tell them where to look.

I've used Rail Brown and Roof Brown. Basically anything I have lying around that's close to the color of the rail web. I have no idea what your rail web looks like. but I assume you have a stash of model paints....?

Not sure if they make a steel color but they do make a weathered rail dark brown that looks realistic. You could also go with neolube which give a blacker look.
