My wife has decided that she needed a spice rack instead of bags of spices everywhere in the pantry. She decided to buy 4 oz metal containers and magnets. She spent hours using JB Weld to attach the magnets to the back of the containers. Her goal is to label the spice tins and line the side of the fridge. The spice tins are aluminum and round with clear windows into the tops. My wife put the magnets on the bottom, so it creates a round window into her spices. Tonight, while she was trying to move her spices into her tins, I snuck a few away. In one of them I placed a telephone box, mail box, and a walking girl. Viola! Instant tiny street scene that hangs on the fridge. My wife laughed, so I kept going. I found a bag of aquarium rocks in brown and lined the bottom of one of the tins. I inserted an HO scale CAT 420E Backhoe Loader. After replacing the top and giving it a little shake it is now a backhoe digging away. Now I have two round sparse scenes on the fridge. I have a few spice containers left and am trying to decide what to do next.
That's really neat. A little printed backdrop would complete the scenes nicely. Next step: fridge-door mounted Z scale layout. laugh:
The door is problematic because it needs to open and close. The swinging would not be good for a z scale train. Now on the side of the fridge... You're right a little back drop would make it really neat. Especially behind the woman and the phone box. I'd had that thought already. Might need a little background.
