Merry Christmas to all!!!, here's what i would like to do. Mark off a scale mile of track (33 ft if my calculations are correct) Then i want to run a loco over that mile and time it with a stop watch. so if it takex x seconds then i am going y speed. I want to be able to program the max speed of my decoders with my soon to get Lenz system. :D [IMG] Does any one have a speed table, i would like to set it up in an excel formula...?

Maybe this doesn't apply to decoders, but I use 4 feet in 8 seconds. That is about 60 mph. Maybe someone better check the math. But, it is slower than you would think. As I remember, we used four feet because that was the length of an N Trak module.

I know this isn't what you asked but an easy way to figure out scale speed is with a speed calculator. Try this one.

It's probably easier than measuring out 33 feet, etc.

At 30 MPH a 40" boxcar will pass a point in 1 second.
