I designed a large speaker case for 9x16mm sugar cube speakers. The design is fitted to Atlas SD50/SD60 models. The key to the design is the addition of a ported volume connected to the "normal" back case for a sugar cube speaker. I milled off the top wings of the Atlas frame, and insulated the frame with Kapton tape. The speaker unit fits under the decoder at the rear of the frame. The front light is a 3mm white LED, directly connected to the circuit board. I used a microLED 0402 to light the rear light using the on-board solder connections and 30ga wire, caulked to the interior of the shell. I had to file the clear plastic light assembly just a bit to clear the speaker top edge. I used an ESU LokSound 58751 decoder for control.
Here is a picture part way through the assembly- I forgot to take pictures of the first unit that I built. More pictures to follow.

Nice, how does it sound? Do you notice much difference vs. a shorter enclosure?

I ordered a couple of these 9X25 speakers after seeing someone post about them.

Not sure what I'll use them in at this point. Hope to run them side by side with a 9X16 on my decoder tester to see if there is much difference.

Hi Yes, the volume is significantly louder (that means >> more than 3dB). I had to turn down CV63 about 50% to balance against the other engines.
I have a bunch of 11x16mm and a couple other sizes, also from DigiKey. I have used the 9x16mm in an Atlas GP40, and two Kato F3s.

Thanks but I have my own files (put some up on thingiverse.com HERE) and can pretty easily design ones for special installs. Thanks for the feedback on the sound and volume. Are you going to post a video of it?

    Hi again
On the video- a drawn out maybe ;)
The value of CV63 is down to 70 and it is still loud...

Whoops, the LEDs are 0201's... really tiny!
