Okay, a question for youse guys... I'm going to post this around on other boards as well.

I'm doing some sound installs in diesels for a customer of the shop I work at part time. Something I did was make a baffle box for the little rectangle Soundtraxx speaker to fit in the Athearn SD40-2 to improve the sound. It worked really well.

So would anyone be interested in a ready to go baffle box for this speaker? I can make up and cast these pretty easy.

I usually make my own baffle box for speakers. It doesn't take long to do.

I have installed 4 speakers to date. 3 I used commercially available baffles, and the last one, I used a 1" speaker in an HO scale Bachman, C&O H5. I put a Tsunami decoder in the tender and used a plastic bottle cap from one of the Mrs' packaged water bottles for the speaker baffle.

The thing blasts out like one of my guitar amps.

I've seen the water cap trick. It's pretty neat.

The water cap trick works really well.

Another neat trick is to use the non-cap end of a medicine bottle. That gives you more space volume than the bottle cap depending on what you can fit into the engine. For a diesel install this would be tricky though.

Tonys and Loys Toys already sell enclosures that are adapted to exactly match their speakers...
