I just got my replacement SP Tunnel Motor, and WOW! What a real beauty. I know this has been gone over several times, but I had to throw my two cent's in too! Two thumbs up Intermountain! Here is something else I noticed. The rivots on this model are very fine compared to the first release. I have a Cotton Belt unit, and I am going to keep it with the rivots the way they are. Having run several different types of units, including Tunnel Motors, I kinow that rivots come in different shapes and sizes, and I think the difference will be cool on these models. Here's some photos of some 'oversized' rivots on an SD40-2.
So, big or small, I love these IM Tunnel Motor models, and can't wait to get more! Come on 'L' window SD45-T2's!
they almost look porngraphic.. wouldnt be hard to make them.... I'll shut up before gettin into trouble
Jerry, I think that besides your vast knowledge, it's your upbeat spin on everything that makes you such a great asset to the model railroad forums. I, for one, really appreciate the "smile" you put in your posts. Thanks - because it makes these boards much more enjoyable!!!!
I have just opened my replacement tunnel motor and I agree that they are great. I had an open pole (ie, a mechanical problem) and IM replaced the mechanism. But they also replaced the cab, I think. The rest of the shell is the same. (I had done some detail work on it.) The interesting thing is that the right side walk way no longer bows up over the fuel tank. I had heard that the cab on the original run was not square and that is what caused the right side walkway to bow up. It appears to me that the replacement cab may have fixed the problem. Question is: Could I do that to my other original run cabs and make the walkway lay down a little? Anyone else try this?
