So, my Paasche airbrush died on me and I had to break out the turbo. A much despised detail device that gets lots of hate. If tuned properly, this thing works wonders on small area painting. Pics of the painted loco to follow soon…..
The turbo uses an oscillating needle to draw the paint out of the cup and into the airstream, I can draw pencil width lines with it.
Since I used a Bachmann cab, had to figure out a way to attach it without using glue. Attached a couple of styrene blocs to the cab and affixed it with some brass screws. I went with this cab because it is much easier to modify than the brass cab, which would require a new roof to eliminate two of the three roof vents.
Here is the finished product, some running this weekend and then off to its owner. I’m not going to add up the hours, but there were a lot. The finished product looks very similar to the venerable 2472. I hope everyone enjoyed the build. I sure did.
2473 in the background is getting the same treatment in the near future. I took some shortcuts on making that one a P-8.
Picked up another brass USRA Pacific today, looks like I’ll be building one of these for myself along with a brass P-10 with the one I already have. Getting even more addicted to brass.
