I was looking through the August 94 Model Railroader and it had an article about the SPs Moguls. They had a picture of one of these in Whittier, CA (where I live) in 1910. Anyway, I wasn't aware that the Southern Pacific served Whittier before assimilating the Pacific Electric. I don't know a whole lot about the history of the railroad in Whittier, but I thought there was the UP line to Fullerton, the PE from Los Nietos to Uptown, and the PE from Los Nietos to Brea and Yorba Linda (this is the line which the SP and now UP still operate out to Brea). Where did the SP come into Whittier in 1910?

Both the PE and SP ran from Los Nietos to Whitter. Just on seperate lines. The UP ran from Whitter Jct. down to Fullerton. In fact, the PE and SP lines crossed in Whitter just before the end of the lines. To add to the confusion, The PE line branched off the Walker line and the SP branched off the Petata line. Now that you are totally confused :D.
