Not as 'classic' as Mike's great shots, but here's one I took (believe it or not) 2000 - loaded beets exiting the west portal of tunnel 7. UP was very railfan friendly - it send 20 SP AC4400s to California for beet train duty, and ran them on a schedule, most of the time. Made for some great railfanning!!

Now if only Kato would release this in SP [IMG] !

I missed the ol' Beet trains...I use to see them all the time when they ran up the coast through Glendale during the eighties...nice shot.

I never saw the old wooden beet gons in person - bummer. But I chased these 'modern day' beet trains all over California in the mid-to-late '90's. Not as classic as the old woodies, but still SP - they almost always had pure SP power up front, even as late as 2000!
