In 1964, circumstance landed me in Moscow for a week. Any external references are incidental to the time and the place and are not intended as to be political in nature. If the Soviet Union was to promote tourism (it did not), what would a movie trailer look like?
I'm rather fond of this unique Russian folk group, which translates into something like Otabo or Otavo yo. The particular song is about the pleasures of communism and the disdain of capitalism and is called "Red Apple." It is curious that this post Soviet group is singing the praises of communism, such as "we all live together in an apartment." I try to find some irony, but can find none. Their other stuff is equally bright and evocative even though I cannot understand what they are singing about. I had to look up a translation for this last one. As to the illustrious Russian people, the unimaginable sacrifices and sheer heroism these people exhibited in WWII cannot be overstated.
