Bowing to pressure from rail enthusiasts and a growing dislike of the color armour yellow, Union Pacific announced today a re-painting program under way to return not only all ex-SP units but all Union Pacific units to Southern Pacific livery. This program will continue through the summer and in September, Union Pacific will cease to exist to be replaced by Southern Pacific Railroad. "We're working with EMD right now to build new 'tunnel motors' that pass emissions standards but carry on a lot of that classic SD40T-2/SD45T-2 look," said a Southern Pacific employee under the condition that we not report his name. "Several other changes taking place include an updating of the Daylight scheme for our new passenger trains, and a re-vamping of the 'Black Widow' scheme." "This is totally rad," said some guy with a scanner down by the tracks. "I wonder if they need a design consultant," said one of three guys hanging out at the local hobby shop.
If they meet the emissions standards, then they'll have to invest in a lot of weathering powder to get the right look!
Hey, that's a water-less system meant to conserve vital natural resources. The layer of dirt and grime also helps protect the locomotives from the harmful effects of the sun. :tb-wink: :tb-wink: :tb-wink: :tb-wink:
May be, but just because they're concerned with Mother Earth doesn't mean they have to WEAR Mother Earth.......so saith the resident wiseacre.
LOL Mother earth may not like riding around on trains. Don't I wish. Seeing SP back and running their own tracks again...well...that might not work today.

I got the same message as the rest of you so I took the link and cut and pasted it and got a 404 instead. I think the message is coming up because the URL is incorrect or broken. Rick, I can dream, can't I? Let's get some ACTUAL warbonnet back.
Sorry about the link everyone... yep, I goofed the URL. ... no fun in updating it now.. maybe I'll save it for next year.
Santa Fe War Bonnets. Yes sir! They will forever run on my layout, as they do on yours. That would be good... for other Santa Fe Rail Fans as well.
