I just received an announcement for the Greenberg Show coming to Providence. Looking at the list of vendors, there does not seem to be much N scale. Is this typical of Greenberg shows? How might they compare to a GATS or the Amherst Rail Show?

Operations. If there are any groups of operators around the Southern New England Area (SE Mass or RI esp) that could put up with a rookie for a time or two, I would like to hear about them.

    Thanks

I went to the Providence Train Show last year. There were about 5 booths that had a decent amount of N Scale. I am not planning on attending it this year, as I don't feel it was worth the gas money and aggravation to drive there from Hartford, CT, due to the destruction and construction going on around Providence. If I lived closer to Providence and liked traffic, I would probably attend. I did find many N Scale items I was looking for, but other than that, it really wasn’t impressive when compared to the mother of all train shows (Amherst). I am going to the Train Show at the CT Exposition center this weekend, but only because it is very close. There is no comparison to the Amherst Train Show at the Big E Fairgrounds in February (2nd and 3rd). I have attended GATS shows in Texas, some were good (Houston) some, not so good (San Antonio).

    I hope this helps.

The Greenberg show in Wilmington MA will be Dec.1-2. The N-scale selection is halfway decent. I have found some useful items there. I have not been to the Providence Show.

    Russ,

Where is the show in Wilmington? I am always looking for train shows in New England. In Texas, I was able to go to a train show about once a month. Up here (in CT) it seems that shows only happen around Christmas, and even then they are mostly HO or O scale.
I was actually suprised at the number of vendors I had to choose from at Train shows in Texas. N Scale was very popular and NTRAK clubs setting up displays from as far away as AZ.

The show in Wilmington is right off of 93 in the Shriner's Auditorium, every year. I'm always out here at school this weekend (first weekend of Dec.), we have the show at the "Egg" in Albany, NY.

    Garth,

Take I-93 to Concord road exit and follow the signs. The show is at the Shriner's auditorium. Greenberg's has a web site with details.

    Russ,

Thanks for the directions. I am going to try to get there, but the new windows for our house arrived, and I may end up installing them through the weekend.
