I have a bunch of plastic storage containers, I think they were originally designed as storage for tackle. The compartments are perfect for my N scale rolling stock.

BUT, I need to line each compartment with some type of foam padding, and I am having trouble finding a source for it. What I have found, was too thick (1/2") and I would like to find something more like 1/4" or even 1/8" in some cases.

I would appreciate any help in locating a source.

Do a Google search for closed cell foam. Polyethylene is the type, I think. Somebody please correct me if I am wrong about polyethylene. You may have to look at many to find the right softness or flexibility.

I bought 1/4" not too long ago but don't remember from whom.

One option might be cheapo carpet padding at your local carpet store.

Just be sure the type of material won't leach the paint off the models or deteriorate and stick to the model like old Con-Cor inserts did.

you might try foam rubber weather stripping with the sticky on one side. it is about 1 1/2 to 2" wide.

Try a craft store. In my area, I know Joanne Fabrics has 1/8" (3mm) craft foam sheets, in a bunch of colors. I've also seen them at Michaels.

    Good luck
