I asked the question a while back, but got a variety of answers--thought I'd ask again to see if anyone else can help--I'd like to paint an SW-9 or 12 in the red-white scheme, but cannot find a photo which shows the walkways along the long hood, and across the back of the cab. Are they white? I'm fairly certain the long hood walkway is white, but the back "porch" is the area I'm most unsure of. Thanks.

    Chris,

It seemed to be a common habit of the walkways painted white as delivered but the rear walkways may have been painted red on overhaul. From what I acertained, this was the usual for the SD40/-2's
Depending on the time frame you wish to model, I would say paint the rear red. That's what I did for a late 70's - early 80's unit.
I'll try to check on the dates and paint tomorrow night - I'll be visiting Bob Rivard's Soo layout. I'm certain he will have a good idea.

Thanks, Gary, I'll look forward to any additional information you find--the layout visit sounds great--enjoy-and let the board hear about what you see--I'm sure it's a fantastic layout.
