    Hi!
Yes, I'm a Soo modeller in N. Some say I am a glutton for punishment...

    Hi Gats,
what makes you say that? Certainly can't be a lack of prototype models, decals or paint?
    Is it??
What era do you model, and what part of the system. I too model in N scale, and am delighted with the availability of items!

I am a Soo fan - also in western NY. Not actively modelling right now, but I would like to join up with or begin a modular group.

    Hi Tom, and welcome.
    We're almost neighbors! Dunkirk here.
I'm not too sure about any modular or N-trak style groups in the Brockport area, but if there isn't one, why not start one yourself?
This would be a great place to outline just what you'd like your group to do. Which scale, modular size, era, motive power etc.
Let me know if TrainBoard can help. We'll post it here as a specific topic.
    Good luck,
    BILL [IMG]

Just a joke [IMG] There are not too many Soo modellers Downunder, particularly in N.
I agree about the availability of Soo specific models now. Atlas producing a GP7 was a nice surprise.
I will be modelling around the Twin Cities, probably Humboldt Yard to Withrow/Pigs Eye Yard, in two time frames - 75-85 and 85-95. I also model BN and TC&W so TCs works out well for me.
btw, if you are a 70's+ modeller, I have found some N Precision Masters 3-bay hoppers for great prices. Give me a yell.

    Gary.

    Hi Gary and welcome again,
yup!, things are looking up for those of us who model the SOO, as far as RTR items are concerned. I like your idea of modeling a large city area, gives you lots of options for operations, including long transfer drags to interchanges. Also a split timeframe is a great idea! I'm currently trying that, but on a very small scale...cabs and early geeps with cattle traffic etc, and 2nd generation units for pigs and cans etc. The flexibility it offers is awesome! About those PM 3 bay c/hoppers; are they the "ColorMark" series ones? I've got quite a few, but would be interested in more. How many number sets did PM do them in?
or, let me know what number sets are available.
    Many thanks,
    BILL [IMG]

    Hi Bill,
The split timeframe allows me to keep to the prototype closer but allow mw to have the equipment I like without old and new together, say RS3's and SD60's for example.

As for the PM cars, as far as I know, only one 3-car set was released in the three schemes. Single cars were the Green lettered, red stripe version.
Central Coast Trains in CA have a stack of bodies in the 3 schemes minus boxes, trucks and, in some cases, weights for 0.99. Mind you, that would also include no airtanks and brakewheel, either. Some IM trucks and a few MTL brakewheels, tyre (tire) weights, and a little scratching for the tanks should have a sizeable fleet at a reasonable price.
(I can get the 3-packs here for $47 Australian pesos, or about $30US.)
Also the single cars for $4.49 complete. Send me an email and I can forward the email I have from them.

    Cheers,

    Gary.

    Hello Gary,

Enjoyed a tour of your web site. Something that I especially liked with your pictures was the I.D. of the digital camera you used. It would be nice if all the sites posted that info too.

    Thanks, Patrick.

The site is still undergoing tweaking and new pages are in developement. There will be a Soo related section on the models page soon.

I thought having the camera information would have been of some use to somebody. Regardless of the camera used, a basic spiel on what the photographer used would be invaluable to those wanting to do the same type of shot.

    Hi Gary,
finally back. Had a chance to view your site. Very nice! Thanks for the offer about the PM SOO hoppers. That's a very good price from them. Will have to look into it.
    Thanks again!

Thanks, Bill. Still some work to do on the site and I need to get onto them CCT myself to secure some of those hoppers.
And talking modelling, my N Scale SD60 6005 is nearing completion as are the touch-ups on SD60M's 6058 and 6061 (factory painted units). Digi-pics available soon!

    Gary.
