Nikon is about to launch a new DSLR in about 19 days from now. They have a teaser up on their site. I'm holding my breath now.:zip:
Oh dear-- PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE! Actually, I'm leaving for Alaska before it's announced. I can't afford a D200 right now, and figure the D170 (or whatever) won't be available until next January. My D70 does quite OK up to 11 x 17--but that's digital to digital printing.
10.2 mp... the race continues! I notice the price dropping on the Rebel XT's, so I am guess its replacement is not too far away either Harold
Why wouldn't it? I honestly don't know. My biggest cards are 2 GB. That's a 32-bit address limit. Is that the problem?
I still don't know. I ordered a 4-Gbyte card yesterday on-line, so we'll see in a few days. FAT32 has been around since 1996; I hope Nikon is using something better ten years later.
Huh? FAT is only 16 bit addressing, different cameras using diferent card types do not necessarily use the same firmware.
The limitation, if any, is independent of the type of memory used. Your earlier statement to Pete was that 4GB works with CF and may not work with SD. I am pretty sure all the Nikon DSLRs use the same way to address memory. They will have different firmwares as each camera has uniques features.
Compact flash card at 4 Gbytes works fine on D70. It's also a 140x speed card, so it's much faster than previous 1 Gbyte cards.
Canon is now running an ad in Isrial that translates roughly to "August 24th, The Legend Begins". That's their normal time to release new products, although nothing legendary was rumored to be on the plate before the ad. We may be seeing some interesting products from both vendors.
