How about some SLSF Railcars? http://photoswest.org/photos/00015001/00015072.jpg http://www.demopolis.ws/images/RR/slsf_2126_w.jpg http://photoswest.org/photos/00015001/00015070.jpg http://www.demopolis.ws/images/RR/slsf_2100m_w.jpg Anybody have other examples to share?? -Mike
Question on colors... is the front of this black and white stripes, or is the dark area Pullman green like the rest of the car body?? -Mike
I believe they were black, but I've never seen a color photograph of one of the motorcars. Oddballs decals makes a set of decals for these, and I believe Tom used black for the stripes. Paul
Of other railroads, similar "doodlebugs" I have seen photographed, came in a variety of striping. Seems to me, that most, (I'm not even saying all), of those I've seen in color, carried stripes of red and white. But would that be true for the Frisco? If it was being done for visibility, having the darker stripe painted in black wouldn't seem to be helpful. Boxcab E50
Lou Marre's book "Frisco in Color" has some color shots of doodlebugs, all taken at the Hugo (OK) depot. IIRC, the front is black w/white stripes, while the rest of the motorcar is Pullman green. The roof should also be black. I'll have to find that book at home & check up on it.
Checkd my copy of "Frisco in Color" as well - problem with those pics is that I think they may have been colorized, or the color seperation is so slight I still can't tell! Over on frisco.org someone had done a model of one and he striped the nose in black/white. Thanks for the additional tips. Anyone know just how many of these things SLSF had?? thx again! -Mike
