I just got back in the swing of railfanning, so I figured I'd share a few shots. I spent a year at a university in Alaska, but I'm back here in Oregon again, and this time with a Canon Rebel T3 instead of my old PowerShot A480. Seems that Portland and Western hasn't changed too much in the year and a half I've been away. #2005 is still hauling the lumber cars to and from Philomath, albeit with more patina. The patch job has faded, revealing its (poorly hidden) Utah Railway heritage.

If anyone here is PNWR savvy, I'd be interested in knowing if there have been any additions to the roster or any other newsworthy events in the past 1-2 years!

I'm a sucker for snow scenes. :) You probably got tired of those, up in Alaska?

That poor 2005 looks like it could really use some attention. I'll admit to being a sucker for those older low noses, and the slug visible up front is also kind of a treat!

Haha surprisingly, no. I love watching trains cruise through the snow. Living with the snow is another matter, but watching Alaska Railroad's SD70MAC's kick up a snow storm never gets old.

I'm hoping 2005 gets some much needed attention at some point, but considering its mundane job hauling half a dozen lumber racks to and from Philomath and Albany, I doubt it will.

Here's a closer shot of that slug:

As for new locos. In another thread it was mentioned that they just received an SD40-2.

Some of those links, based off of specific terms, are created by a plug-in that identifies words/terms and links to sponsoring sites. Kind of like those companies that purchase banner ads here, this is another way to help keep the site running.

Doesn't PNWR have 2 of these units? I got pictures somewhere of these being built at CEECO in Tacoma. They are former NW slugs.
