Found some old shots of MP diesel power in and around Van Buren, AR, and thought I'd share them with you here. It should also serve to whet Paul Cassar's appetite for the MP. B23-7 4639 with three other MP diesels (one in gray & yellow) at the diesel ready track, Van Buren, AR, July 23, 1988. GP38-2 2129 leads a westbound freight approaching the yard at Van Buren, AR in May 1980. Behind it is GP35 2525. MP GP35M 2601, sold to Kiamichi Railroad in Hugo, OK, awaits a call to duty on the next westbound Madill Turn. Later, it would be repainted and renumbered to KRR 3805. This diesel started life as a GP35 sold to Texas & Pacific in the 1960s, and was converted to a GP35M at N. Little Rock.
That Jenks blue was a great scheme. When the UP and the MoP merged, they did their thing wrong, they should have kept the blue paint scheme and the UP management, not the MoP management and the yellow paint.
