I've posted my Thursday photos from the 2008 NSC and National N Scale Convention. For me, the day was action-packed full from morning to night. Meeting great people. Having my mind expanded every minute. Bob Knight's (TrainCat) clinic on building brass kits blew up my mind (that's good) on what is possible. Great contest entries. NTrak layout is being built, 700 modules worth. Room Sales superb for visiting and socializing. Visited with Charles Hopkins and saw his latest custom loco painting. The pictures above represent sample of all of these and more: national_n_scale_convention_2008_thur_june_26 Photo Gallery by atsf_arizona at pbase.com And I have also uploaded these to Paul Down's collective web site of photos of this convention, again, that URL where you can see photos from *many* attendees. This is great because my photos only represent one small cross section of all that is happening. See that web site at: .Mac Web Gallery Enjoy!
Being here at DCE is GREAT. KSONS and the people with ALL the NTRAK groups are all TOP LINE PEOPLE. This group cares about the MODEL RAILROADING HOBBY. To me all most of N SCALE COLLECTOR PEOPLE care about is obtaining Kadee/ Micro-Trains Lines cars AND THAT'S IT!!! Seems most of the NSC people could care less about the NTRAK layout. They have the attitude that this convention is their baby, and KSONS/NTRAK just happens to be along for the ride. It is the other way around KSONS and the NTRAK partnership thought up, got this convention up and running. KSONS and the NTRAK partnership just about had to beg the N Scale Collector group to come on board for the convention. By the way the silent auction was NOTHING to brag about, and the live auction wasn't that exciting either. I cannot see paying more for something at auction than I can buy the item for at a store! I guess I'm at little burned out on the whole car collector idea now. When I get back to the home/layout, all those KD/MTL cars are going to come off the shelves, get weathered and BE RAN ON THE LAYOUT! Oh well, today is another day at DCE, the HUGE NTRAK layout is really looking great, and I can't wait for the WORLD'S GREATEST HOBBY SHOW to open.
Had a great time thursday. Saw them setting up the Ntrak modules and look forward to getting back to see Ttrak today. Hope I dont get lost in that maze! Went to the auction and thought some of the prices were high but I did see a few barains. I actually thought the auction was a lot of fun. Had to explain to the wife that most of the MT stuff that went for very high prices were basically investments like buying a fine art peice and they would never see track time.Met a few TB folks also. Bought a little lazer kit at check in. Check in guys were great. Hope to catch a few more clinics today. I brought my climax critter I built from the kit Ranqust as selling. I actually have it and a couple of freight cars and a bobber caboose in a tiny box I am going to take to the Nrak modules and see about sneeking it on the track.I'm the guy in the blue C&O hat....of course! Later...
looks great everyone...wish I could have come. BTW. Those Charles Hopkins engines look incredible who is he and does he have a website? Thank I know newbie question...
