They are in the yard @ Belen. Someone has to know. TIA

 

Hmmmmmmmmm...interesting to be just sitting out on a steel rack in the middle of the yard like that...no?

 

Makes them handy for the car men to grab for quick and easy replacement.

 

Picture taken in New Mexico. Not that much problem with rain.

 

1 1/2" and 2" brake shoes. Cars with Wabco beams take the 1 1/2, cars with standard beams take the 2".

Interesting things I've been finding since following the Virtual Railfan cams.

 

The two in the left rack look similar to brake shoes used on locomotives. As for the shoes sitting outside, when they are installed on the equipment it sits outside. There are a lot of railroad parts that sit outside. At the engine house all EMD rad fans and grid blowers are stored outside as they are exposed to the weather on locomotives.
