I installed traction tires on my Kato heavy Mikado on the 4th drivers. Ever since, I seem to be derailing everywhere. I may have messed up the pilot truck assembly because I didn't realize it would fall out after I removed the driver support with the two screws. There is a small plastic bracket that I may be installing incorrectly. Also, I found a small brass strip about 1/4 in long and about 3/32 wide that may have nothing to do with this. Any help or pictures will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

They wonder and slam me to the ground every-time I say I HATE traction tires. That's why. Sorry, just had to vent.

As the day wears on you'll get some help from some of our best mechanic's. Just not from me.

I do hope you get it fixed and back up and running.

If my memory is correct I don't think you need to remove the fourth driver wheelset to change traction tires. Unless, of course, you are replacing the entire wheelset. Also, the traction tires are supposed to sit in a groove machined in to the fourth drivers that were at one time available as replacements for the original drivers. So if you are adding traction tires to a wheelset that does not have the groove, as in an original equipment driver set, that might be your problem.
