I saw this streaming filmclip about the Kyle RR plowing snow in northwestern Kansas (on the former Rock Island between Limon, CO and Phillipsburg, KS) and I thought I'd pass the link along to you. Also, click on "Drop Shots" below the film, and it links to several mroe snow fun films.
That's a ton of snow! Did they end up digging it out, or did they yank it out? I would have tried to borrow a UP rotary...
The later movies are there if you click the dropshots link. They dug it out a bit and then powered through.
Great Job Thanks Friscobob for putting that up there. It made my blog with a tip of the hat to you, of course. WAY COOL video. :shade:
Happy to be of service. Please make sure to credit the folks who shot these things as well- I'm sure they would appreciate it. IIRC, the most recent issue of Railfan & Railroad had a pic of the Kyle plow & the lead locomotive off the rails after hitting an ice-crusted crossing at Kanorado, KS/CO. Made for a long day, it did.
I worked for a Kyle RR (Yreka Western) and did not know thay had red locomotives. The only color I have seen before was blue! Now I have a new dimention to model. Thanks for posting that link .. it was most interesting!
That red & gray is from Railtex via RailAmerica- Railtex came up with the red/gray colors, as is evidenced as Missouri & North Arkansas diesels, plus one or two on DGNO around Dallas. RA acquired Railtex and Statesrail (Kyle's owner). Now I'm not a CB&Q fan, but if they darkened the gray a bit, added white nose stripes, and relettered the engines with the font the Burlington used...........
I noticed that last unit was DGNO with Kyle lettering on the long hood. That unit is a long way from Dallas.
RA likes to rotate units around- which is why you'll see Indiana & Ohio GP40s on the DGNO and Kiamichi, and those diesels sublettered DGNO on the Kyle. And also why I saw two GP20s formerly on the Toledo Peoria & Western down on the CORP service tracks in Eugune yesterday.
