Hi there, I am a old retread from trains as a kid and then in the service my bunkie and I had a small 24X36 that was one level and when we used it we would set it up on the desk. I was then a early N scaler. But all good things come to a end. We had a surprise inspection. Our layout was behind the Lockers but one of those Go-Happy Dumb-A**es decided to look under the locker and could see the board. Our chief said that the captain thought it was a nice layout but not military issue..It got put in a box and was lost somewhere out there in Never-never land.
Over the years I have kept a somewhat ear to the ground but not real close. I had moved several times and in different vehicles from Vans to Class A motor homes. Right now My health is giving me issues that will keep me close to a Va and will be under the microscope for awhile. I have a side box that measures 29X36 and about 8-9 inches high. I had a working plan but then a curve kinda came in the train sets I bought. Instead of track I got this EZ track stuff that will work with some other companies tracks. and can be adapted to others. Now I am trying to figure out if with a Life-like adaptor and whatever ex track I can get it like I had on the plan.
OK everyone says job done right?? Not. First I needed to find the right radius tracks so I could get two lines running at the same time without having any chance of making a big bang.I had a double loop with 11.25 and 9.34 radius and on the straightaways No issues and a couple of sidings one for a coal tower and the other a two engine barn!!!Had crossovers and even a little bit of a rise on the back side to let me have a track to run the line to the coal tower. I rise was 1 inch but would with carving out the foam board will get me the rest of the height to use a old style trestle. I know I am close but the plan has to fit or there is no use trying and what is messing up my mind the most is how much difference the Life-Like roadbed is from ez track. I had used RTS 8.0 to make my original layout and it looked great. I am wondering if it will still work.... I can't find any life like track around here and when you start asking questions i get that stare...You know....The brain took a break and shutdown:tb-biggrin: I love it when I can make people do that but right now i could use a idea. I don't know if i can get a picture from the computer to this post or not. I will wait till someone who knows what and how and i will try it so you could see the plan I had. I really want that plan as long as I can get it in and out,[on sliders], !! If we have to stop travel we can build a addition to this one and we would have room for our toys and tools too!! I could at that time make a bigger plan with one of the 6 inchers out and pit a frog right in there and run it out most likely L shaped! Thats down the road and I hope we can do a few more states first!:munhappy:
