I have just picked up a copy of Global Railway Review. The July 2019 issue. The feature article focusses on infrastructure in Slovenia. Jo, my wife, and I travelled to Slovenia in 2006 and stayed in Bled. Reading the article in Global Railway Review brought back memories of that holiday. http://rogerfarnworth.com/2019/08/12/slovenia-railways-and-the-slovenia-railways-museum Don't miss out on the photographs from the museum in the appendix at the end of the linked post.
Thank you Roger -- good stuff. A few days ago I watched a documentary on TV that discussed Nazi Germany's Deutsche Reichsbahn and their development of 2-10-0 Kriegslokomotiven (war locomotive) in 1943. It was designed with a great many interchangeable parts, so as to be economical to build and maintain. Hundreds of this successful design found their way onto lines of European and Russian lines after the war. I'm probably completely wrong, but your two photos of a large rusting steam locomotive surrounded by weeds and wheelsets looks like one of these. Again, thanks for your post!
What a nice collection. Some interesting looking items. Especially like a couple of the small gauge locomotives.
I'm going on faulty memory here, but is the RR that still has daily service on narrow gauge to Vienna? Some time ago I watched a travel show that included what I described, I believe it was in Slovenia. Thx, Lyle D
