Transition sleepers are for the on-board personnel to use for cross country travel-sleeping, etc. They are also used by conductors as an "office." They are right behind the bagagge car so the conductor can work baggage at stations. There is an end door on one end that is on same level as bagagge car vs normal upper level end doors, hence "tranition." Regular sleepers are usually but not always right behind the transition cars. On the Southwest Chief There is a sleeper behind the coaches because it gets put on an EB train out of Cicago.
